CHRISTYNE (SANDEL) THIELE
Christyne (Sandel) Thiele; 92 years; a longtime resident of San Antonio, TX; passed away on Saturday; February 26, 2022 in Longview, TX. The celebration of Christyne’s life was scheduled for 12PM on Saturday; March 5, 2022 at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville, TX with the burial following at High Prairie Cemetery in Madisonville, TX. Rev. Bryan Richardson and Dr. Don Guthrie officiated.
Christyne was born on October 3, 1929 in Nomangee, TX to Harvey Langford Sandel and Maude Ravella (Conn) Sandel. She graduated from Leona High School in 1947, earned her bachelor of science degree in nursing from The University of Texas in 1974, earned her masters degree in health professions from Texas State University in 1978, and obtained a vocational counseling certification from Our Lady of the Lake University in 1982. She worked for many years with the NISD and the SAISD and retired as the vocational counselor at Sam Houston High School in San Antonio, TX.
Christyne accepted Christ as her Lord and
Savior in May of 1943 and was baptized in a “tank” on R. Keeling’s place. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in San Antonio, TX where she served in many leadership roles and taught Sunday School.
Christyne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis William Thiele, Jr.; her daughter, Deborah Ferrier; her son-in-law, Ronald Ferrier; her brother, Langford Sandel and his wife, Blanche; her sister, June Hunt and her husband, Elliott; her sister, Bobbie Lea Kaptchinskie; and her brother-in-law, Melvin Kennedy.
Christyne is survived by her children, Dawn Thiele and William “Dusty” Thiele; her grandchildren,
Catherine Leigh Ferrier, Emily Christyne Rogers (Bradley), Sarah Elizabeth Goffinet (Casey), and Laura Anne Thiele; her great grandchildren, Campbell Lynn Rogers and Ricky William Rogers; her sister, Darlene Kennedy; her brother, Joe Sandel (Peggy); her brother-in-law, Kap Kaptchinskie; and many other family members and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are: David Kennedy, Bonner Sandel, Pat Kaptchinskie, Joey Hunt, Liem Hoang, Casey Goffinet, and Brad Rogers.
