VIRGIE PEARL LUCAS

Funeral services honoring the life of Virgie Pearl Lucas, age 95, were held 2 P.M., Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Stuart Carter officiated the service. Virgie was laid to rest next to her late husband, Otha in Allphin Cemetery, Midway, Texas.

Virgie Pearl Lucas was born August 3, 1926 in Madisonville, Texas, the last surviving child of nine born to Jonathan & Alice Irene (Stephens) Collard. She and her late husband, Otha, raised their family in LaMarque, Texas and moved to Madisonville in 1978. Virgie had worked as a bus driver and as an Avon Cosmetics Representative, even winning a car from her outstanding sales with the company. Virgie was a long-time and faithful member of Mt. Tabor Church of Christ and enjoyed volunteering at the Sonshine Center, as well as canning and gardening in her younger years. She passed away July 5, 2022 in Bryan, Texas.

Virgie was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Otha Lucas; daughter, Tonja Kay Lucas; granddaughter, Amanda Shadle; daughter-in-law, Jean Lucas and all of her eight siblings.

Surviving family members include sons, Ronald Lee (Lynn) Lucas of Glenrose and Donald Glen Lucas of Houston; daughter, LaJuana Renee Shadle of Madisonville; grandchildren, Robert Shadle, Charlie Shadle, Chad Lucas, Tricia Blackwelder, Adam Dane Lucas and Priscilla Ann Lucas and great-grandchildren, Hannah Shadle, Layton Shadle, Nolan & Addison Blackwelder, Finn & Ford Lucas and Paxton & Jensen King.

Pallbearers: Dane Lucas, Chad Lucas, Robert Shadle, Bobby Shadle, Gary Blackwelder, Jason King

Honorary Pallbearer: Charlie Shadle

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mt. Tabor Church of Christ.

Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas was entrusted with final arrangements.
