Wayne Parnell, age 91, passed away September 30, 2022 in Houston, Texas. Funeral services honoring his life were held 11 A.M., Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Sand Prairie Baptist Church near Normangee, Texas. Bro. Bob Williams officiated the service, assisted by Bro. Larry Andrews. Interment with military honors followed in Zion Cemetery, Iola, Texas.

Wayne Eugene Parnell was born May 5, 1931 in Bedias, Texas to Enoch Elwood & Isabella Blondee (Snook) Parnell. He was one of seven children born to this union. Wayne was raised in Bedias. He enlisted in the US Army where he served during the Korean War and also overseas in Germany. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Wayne worked for Texas Iron Workers. This job took him all over the United States. He later came back to Bedias where he married his former high school sweetheart, Mary Lee (Thomasson) Crocker on October 11, 2009. Wayne enjoyed fishing, cooking barbecue, family reunions, riding horses and dancing with his sweetheart, Mary.

Wayne was preceded in death by both of his parents; daughter, Charity Smith; brothers, Bobby, Jack, Pete and J.W. Parnell and sisters, Daisy Hunziker and Lillie Anding.

Survivors include wife, Mary Parnell; children, Loretta Parnell, Wayne Eugene “Buster” Parnell, Jr. (Kim), Christina Tuscana, Michael David Crocker (Patsy) and Odis Wayne Crocker; sister, Linda Holt and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers: Richard Earl Grissett, Johnathon Tuscana, Kevin Yeager, Joe Bob Snook, Tim Holt, Glenn Gene Snook Arrangements were under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
