Jace and Ryder Davis were born with a rope in their hands. The 12-year-old and the 15-year-old have been heavily influenced by their dad, Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualifier Justin Davis.

The National Finals Rodeo is the most prestigious rodeo in the world. It is truly a dream for all young cowboys and cowgirls to compete in.

The Wrangler NFR is held at the Thomas & Mack in Las Vegas, Nevada, paying out millions of dollars to NFR qualifiers. Only the elite Top 15 competitors in the bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, tie-down roping, barrel racing and bull riding qualify for this sold out, 10-day event.

Justin Davis made his first appearance in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2013.

The two students, Jace and Ryder out of Normangee, are currently active in Region 9 rodeos while keeping up with their schoolwork through Monarch Home Schooling and Teaching Textbooks. Jace, a first-year student, started the year off heading out for partner Cuatro Donell. His brother, Ryder, a 7th grader, is roping behind his partner Wyatt Harrelson.

In May of 2023, Jace and Ryder roped their way to success at the Texas Junior High State Finals Rodeo. As 6th and 8th graders, both boys showed their immense talent by winning the State Championship title. “I’m just trying to be as successful as my dad,” remarks Jace.

The May 2023 win qualified them for the National Junior High Finals Rodeo, allowing them to represent the Lone Star State and show off their skills.

In April of this year, young gun Ryder split over $51,000 with partner Cade Ward at the United States Team Roping Championship 8.5. The two boys were able to come back high call with over 400 teams entered. Ryder was mounted on his dad’s good heel horse, a 13-yearold bay, that helped put him in position every run.

Growing up in the rodeo scene, Jace and Ryder have had the opportunity to ride and learn on many different horses. Pinto, a yellow and white paint, is Jace’s current mount. While Ryder is riding an 11-year-old gelding, Stingray.

Both Jace and Ryder Davis credit much of their success to their late mother, Casee Davis. Casee unfortunately lost her battle with breast cancer this year. Through these trials and tribulations, the brothers have remained resolute. “She was always such a big help. She taught us to be confident and to never get a head of ourselves.”

Jace and Ryder are now gearing up and getting ready for some bigger events including a week in Wickenburg and a week in Vegas. Jace will be roping with Wrangler NFR Champion Header, Colby Lovell. Colby has helped the boys with both their roping and horsemanship.

Remember the names Jace and Ryder Davis. This will not be the last time you hear from them.
