Prayers for an Angel
For over a year, the Reyes family has spent most of their days at Texas Children’s Hospital.
At 11 years old, Angel Reyes suffered from a stroke that forced him to lose many simple capabilities. After dealing with the aftermath of his stroke, doctors discovered that Angel had Leukemia. Leukemia is a cancer of blood-forming tissues, including bone marrow.
Today, at 13 years old, Angel is still fighting this battle. Most recently, an infection was found near his brain. This infection caused Angel to be moved to the ICU, allowing no visitors due to his low White Blood Count Levels.
Angel’s mom, dad, and two older sisters have made themselves at home at the Ronald McDonald House beside the children’s hospital.
“Our goal is to help wherever we can,” said a close family friend.
With Angel’s health ranging from being up or down every other day, the close family friend wants to help the family.
A few weeks ago, Madisonville High School set up a blood drive with the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center to help assist Angel.
Prosperity Bank also has an Angel Reyes Benefit Fund, account number ending in 0861 or you can donate by check by sending it to the bank’s mailing address at 208 W. Main, Madisonville, TX 77864, for more information contact them at 936-348-2711.
While another blood drive and fundraiser are in the making, this event will allow all those from the community to give a helping hand to the Reyes family.
As time goes on, the Meteor will update the community at large about the blood drive and fundraiser, but for now, no dates have been announced.
