MARY ANN PARKER MORGAN
1928-2024
Mary Ann Parker Morgan, resident of Vinton, Louisiana, was gently called to her heavenly home at the age of 92 on August 21, 2021 after a long bout with chronic destructive pulmonary disease. Miss Mary, as she was fondly called by her close friends, was born November 5,1928 in Madisonville, Texas and was a graduate of Madisonville High School.
She was predeceased by her husband; Lummie Doyle Morgan, son; Michael Dennis Morgan, mother; Bessie Taft Floyd, step father;Cecile E. Floyd, father; John Riley Parker, and sister; JoNell Parker.
She is survived by her daughter; Deborah Ann Morgan of Houston, Texas; grandsons, Kristopher Scott Bailey of Houston, Texas and David Paul Morgan of Starks, Louisiana; and an adopted granddaughter, Marla Morgan of Sulphur, Louisiana. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren; six surviving half brothers and sisters, John Riley Parker and wife Sharon of Mena, Arkansas, Judith Elaine Parker of Deer Park, Texas, Thomas Randall Parker of Deer Park, Texas, Leola Denise Parker Whitton and husband Bill of Pasadena, Texas, Bobby Robert Parker and wife June of Alcoa, Texas, and Charlotte Parker Miller of Commerce, Texas; she also left behind friends, staff, and acquaintances that became a part of her close extended family.
Mary Ann was an exceptional daughter, sister, loving and devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed cooking, crafting, sewing, and doing handcraft. She loved the challenge of a good Word Find. She enjoyed the art of conversation and storytelling to those that had a good listening ear. She enjoyed keeping herself updated with all sorts of news from local to international, as well as talking on the phone with family and friends. She was an avid animal lover and raised furry and feathered friends alike. One of her most cherished was a parrot named Gabby which was dubbed as her feathered child.
In an effort to leave the world a little better place, she donated her bodily remains to the advancement of medical research. Her body was utilized by the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) in New Orleans, Louisiana in pursuit of all medical knowledge through the study of the human anatomy to train current and future doctors, dentists, nurses, and other health care practitioners.
Her ashes were returned to the family on April 26, 2024 and incurred at the Oxford Cemetery in Madisonville, Texas on May 28, 2024 with assistance from Madisonville Funeral Home of Madisonville, Texas.
