Fatal Crash Claims ATV Rider on Texas 21
A collision between a car and an all-terrain vehicle on Texas 21 East near Northside Lane Tuesday morning left a Midway man dead, officials said.
Michael Farris, 65, of Midway, died at the scene when his 2014 Kubota ATV collided with a 2022 Toyota Corolla, according to Sgt. Justin Ruiz of the Texas Department of Public Safety.
“The preliminary crash investigation indicates on Sept. 17, 2024, at approximately 9:50 a.m., a 2022 Toyota Corolla was traveling eastbound on SH 21 when a 2014 Kubota ATV failed to yield the right of way from a private driveway, was struck, and the driver thrown from the ATV,” Ruiz said.
Madison County Justice of the Peace Jon Stevens pronounced Farris dead at the scene. The Toyota’s driver escaped injury.
Matthew Faw of the Midway Volunteer Fire Department praised the quick response of passersby.
“Some good Samaritans were passing by and decided to help out on the scene,” Faw said.
DPS continues to investigate the crash.
Ruiz said there was no additional information available for release at this time.
