Roy Dale Parker, a cherished member and lifelong resident of the Madisonville community, passed away October 3, 2024, in Madisonville, Texas. Born to Pete and Phyllis (Corrigan) Parker on April 9, 1958, in Madisonville, Texas. Roy was a true son of the Lone Star State, devoted to his roots.

Roy’s passion for ranching was unwavering and defined his life’s work. Starting as a livestock inspector for the Texas Animal Health Commission, he later found his calling as a cattle rancher, a role that brought him immense joy and purpose.

Roy was a proud graduate of Madisonville High School, but his greatest source of pride was his family.

He adored his children, Misty and Amanda, and later became a doting grandfather to their children. Roy’s love knew no bounds, and he delighted in sharing his knowledge of ranching with his grandchildren, passing down traditions and skills that will endure for generations.

In his role as a twelveyear trail boss for the Madisonville Sidewalk Cattleman’s Association, Roy exemplified leadership and community spirit. His presence in the association will be deeply missed, a testament to the impact he had on those around him.

On the day of his passing, a bittersweet moment unfolded as Roy welcomed his first great-grandchild into the world, a poignant reminder of the circle of life and the legacy he leaves behind.

Roy was preceded in death by both of his parents; dear wife, Donna; and close cousin, Doug Cain.

Surviving family members include daughters, Misty (Tim) Mosemann of Madisonville and Amanda (Jose) Alvarado of Madisonville; grandchildren, Brooke (Hogan) Loose of Hico, Emily Alvarado of Madisonville, Tyler Mosemann of Madisonville, Coy Alvarado of Madisonville, and Sam Alvarado of Madisonville; great-grandson, Nolan Russell Loose; and siblings, Gayle Parker of Flynn, Sarah (Jim) Williams of Madisonville, Barbara Parker- Price of Madisonville, Kay Parker of Huntsville, and Jerry (Barbara) Parker of Madisonville.

Roy is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family, as well as numerous friends.

All those who knew and loved Roy joined in honoring his memory at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 2 p.m. Roy was laid to rest in Greer Cemetery following the service.

Bubba Norman served as the officiant.

Pallbearers were Jerry Parker, Tim Mosemann, Jose Alvarado, Tyler Mosemann, Coy Alvarado, Sam Alvarado.

Honorary Pallbearers wereRonnie Lewis, Joey Blakley, Lawrence Hairston, Jim Williams, Hogan Loose.

We take solace in knowing that Roy’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. May his kindness, generosity, and passion for ranching serve as a guiding light for us all.

Rest in peace, Roy Dale Parker. Your legacy will never fade.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Greer Cemetery Association.
