EDMOND ALLEN COLLARD
Edmond “Eddie” Allen Collard, age 74 years, passed away, Friday, August 23, 2024, in Temple, Texas after a lengthy illness.
Eddie was born December 28, 1949, in Baytown, Texas, to Georgia Darlene Turner Collard and L. C. “Hobo” Collard. He attended school in Pasadena, Texas and graduated from Madisonville. He attended Sam Houston State University.
Eddie served as a deputy sheriff for Madison County Sheriff ’s Office and then accepted a position with Texas Department of Criminal Justice, from which he retired. During his employment with TDCJ, he received an Expert Marksman Award, attributing his marksmanship to all the rabbit and squirrel hunting as a youngster. Eddie, Glenda, Rene’ and Bradley enjoyed working gun shows together after his retirement.
He is preceded in death by his father, Hobo Collard; his son, Joshua Aaron Collard; mother-in-law, Lena Lou Coolidge Landry; brother-in-law, Victor Paul Landry; sister-inlaw, Beth Landry; niece, Andrea Terrell; and niece in law, Sandra Collard.
Eddie is survived by his mother, Darlene Collard; sister, Gay Lynne Terrell and family; brother, James Collard, and wife, Gay, and family; his wife, Glenda Landry Collard; son, Bradley Allen Collard; his daughter, Diana Rene’ McBride and husband Jeff; grandchildren, Megan McBride, Jacob McBride, Mark McBride, Lewis Collard (son of Joshua Collard); great grandson, Aaron Lohner (his best buddy!). Eddie is further survived by his fatherin- law, Burke Landry, who Eddie thought of as his second dad; sisterin law, Elaine Landry; his “adopted daughter and grandson,” Shannon Davis, and Gavin Goens; his “adopted brother,” Tim Peterson; and several other grandchildren of the heart, too many to mention, (they know who they are). He adored his great niece, Jozie Collard, and she adored him. They were big buddies.
Eddie’s most favorite job was the family ranch. He loved working cows and farming. He called mowing and baling hay, tractor therapy.
Eddie loved teaching his kids and grandkids, nieces and nephews, gardening and spending time with them all. They all were the loves of his life. Family was the most important thing to him.
In November 2023, Eddie made the biggest decision in his life, to embrace the faith of the Catholic Church and was welcomed into St.
Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, with father in law. Burke Landry, as his sponsor.
He loved the faith and said it was what had been missing in his life.
Eddie grew close to his church family and made many new friends whom he dearly loved.
Internment of the cremains will be at Gourd Creek Cemetery in New Waverly, Texas. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 7, at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 200 South Tammye, in Madisonville.
Visitation at 10 a.m., Rosary at 10:30 a.m. and Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.
