DENISE (IVEY) SMOTEK
DENISE (IVEY) SMOTEK
1966-2024
Denise (Ivey) Smotek, 58, went to be with the Lord on November 21, 2024, with her husband and son by her side. She was born on October 19, 1966, in Anchorage, Alaska to her joyful parents Samuel and Lela Nell (Jett) Ivey.
Denise was raised in Texas from early childhood where she attended school. There she met her high school sweetheart and devoted husband of thirty-nine years, Edward Smotek. They had a loving relationship which resulted in their only son, Justin Smotek. He was her greatest blessing in life, and she took great pride in being his mother. She had a very outgoing and vivacious personality. She absolutely loved to cook and enjoyed having friends and family over for dinner and game nights.
Denise will be fondly remembered by all who she encountered. She had a selfless and compassionate heart. She spent countless hours volunteering her time and resources to helping members of the community who were in need. She was also a huge animal lover, and we are sure that she was greeted into heaven by her many pets that went before her.
Denise was preceded in death by her sister, Jetta Ivey.
Those left to cherish her memory are her parents, Samuel and Lela Nell (Jett) Ivey; loving husband, Edward Smotek; her son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Ashlynn Smotek; her mother-in-law, Dorothy Smotek, her brother-inlaw, Kenneth Smotek; her nephew, Chase Smotek; as well as numerous other extended family and loving friends.
A funeral service for Denise, officiated by Bro. Dennis Ivey and Joel Douget, was held at the Midway Church of Christ 12 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2024, followed by interment in the Midway Cemetery.
