J. B. WHEARLEY

1931 – 2025

J. B. Whearley, 93, of Madisonville, Texas, passed away on July 23, 2025, in Madisonville, Texas. He was born on December 30, 1931, to Sion Eugene & Sue Willie (Parten) Whearley in Madison County, Texas.

J.B. was known far and wide for his exceptional gardening skills, particularly his perfect tomatoes, which he generously shared with the residents of Madison County. His green thumb brought not only sustenance but also joy to many families in the area.

In addition to his gardening, J.B. had a passion for raising cattle, embracing the hard work and dedication that comes with farming.

For thirty-five years, J. B. dedicated his professional life to Union Carbide, where he was respected by his colleagues and remembered for his unwavering commitment to his work. He took pride in everything he did, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege to know him.

He was a wonderful loving Grandpa and always took extra time with his great-grandchildren, who loved him very much. J. B. was preceded in death by both of his parents; wife, Evelyn Whearley; sisters, Gladys Batson, Grace Kuritza, Melba Dean Dreesen, Maidie Madole, Oleta Potter, and Doris Norene Whearley; brother, Reginald Whearley; and son-in-law, James Burch. He is survived by his daughters, Susan Burch of Santa Fe, Texas and Donna (Raymond) Kellow of Galveston, Texas; granddaughter, Rachael (Jason) Renz of Santa Fe, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Daniel, Kaitlyn, and Lucas.

A funeral service for J.

B. was held 1 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2025, at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.

Beau Bevers officiated the service. Interment followed in Madisonville Cemeter y.

Pallbearers: Paul Kuritza, Daniel Renz, Josh Kuritza, Lucas Renz, Jason Renz, David Madole.

Arrangements were under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
