JANE VIRGINIA FINNEY
1948 – 2025
On November 14, 2025, Jesus called Jane Virginia Finney home to be out of physical and mental pain after battling Parkinson’s disease and other ailments for over 20 years. She was born July 13, 1948, to Richard Christian and Jane Virginia Forshay in Dearborn, Michigan. Jane was the oldest of six children that they had. With Joanna, Richard and John left to celebrate her life.
On June 23, 1984, at the Elwood Baptist Church in Elwood, TX, she married Thomas Houston Finney. They were married for forty-one years when she went home. Jane passed because of complications of Parkinson’s and other ailments.
Family left to celebrate Jane’s life is her husband and caregiver Thomas Finney; son and daughter in law and caregivers John and Leah Finney; grandchildren and significant others to include great grandchildren, Laurence Finney and Jessica Weiss Finney, David Finney and Nicole Mulka with Weston and Branston, Virginia Finney and Dorian Miller with Elijah, Eyston, and Ezyrn; sister, Joanna Smith; brothers, Richard Christian and John and Karla Christian; and many nephews and nieces to include their spouses and children.
Proceeding in her death are her parents, Richard Christian and Jane Virginia Forshay; brother-in-law, Steve Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Jim and Kathy Shackleford; sisterin- law, Amy Christian; sister, Patricia Christian; niece Jessica Rose Christian; and also, to include all her grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Jane graduated from the Joe G Davis School for Vocational Nursing in 1981 and was a nurse until 2008, when her ailments caused her to retire. She’ll be remembered for her love of crafting and her puppy dogs. During the following roughly 15 years after retiring, her caregivers were mainly her husband Thomas, with Leah Finney and John all together doing their best.
Finally, in 2024, they were forced to get more help, and she went to Riverwood Nursing Home in Madisonville, Texas. The family would like a special thank you given to Traditions Home Health and Traditions Hospice care for all the care, love and support that they gave over so many years working together.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Waller Thornton Funeral Home Chapel (FM 980 Road) in Huntsville, Texas. A gathering of family and friends will begin on the same day at 10:00 a.m. also in the chapel.
Following the services the family welcomes all to a time of reflection and fellowship at the Home of Lylere Dezelle on Duerer Road of FM 247. Thomas, Leah and John hope that all that can, will attend the Celebration of Life as we show to each other the love and support so many have done for us during this time of celebration of the life of Jane Virgina Finney.
