JOAN MARSH RIGBY

1934 – 2025

Joan Marsh Rigby Mitchell passed away on December 5, 2025, at the age of 91.

She was born on October 26, 1934, in Angleton, Texas, to her loving parents, Mary Louise (Brooks) Marsh and William Elmo Marsh.

Graveside services for Joan (Marsh) Rigby Mitchell are scheduled 4 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Independence Cemetery in Shiro, TX.

Joan devoted her life to education and to the enrichment of young minds. As an educator, she touched countless lives through her commitment to learning, compassion, and encouragement. Her gentle spirit, guiding presence, and unwavering dedication to her students remain a cherished part of her legacy.

Joan’s greatest joy was her family, whom she loved dearly.

She is survived by her sister, Jacqueline Marsh Shotwell; her children and their spouses, Mark Edward Rigby, son, Lee Ann Rigby Solberg, daughter, Jacqueline Kaye Pate Rigby, daughter- in-law, Loren Arthur Solberg, son-in-law; stepchildren and their spouses, Gayle Mitchell Bellomy (spouse Mark), Laurence Andrew Mitchell (spouse Christine); grandchildren, Nathan Marcus Rollins (spouse Bonny Betsy Ross), Patrick Riley Rollins (spouse Jenafer Morgan), Jessica Leigh Rigby Markham, Emily Ann Rigby Kos (spouse Paul John), Randall Tyler Kendrick (spouse Jessi JoClaire); great-grandchildren, Garrett Taylor Rollins, Abbey Marie Rollins, Julie Ann Rollins, Austin Edward Markham, Mathilda Kaye Markham, Henry Francis Markham, Charlie Leland Kos, Weston Royce Kendrick; step-grandchildren, Luke Thomas Bellomy, Benjamin Andrew Bellomy, Mary Ruth Mitchell, and Jonathan Robert Mitchell.

Joan’s legacy lives on in her family, her students, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her kindness, wisdom, and love will be forever remembered.
