Body

Kodi Kuhn Sunley; 32 years, 2 months, 30 days; passed away on Sunday; August 22, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. A celebration of life for Kodi was scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday; August 27, 2021 at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville, TX.

Kodi was born on May 23, 1989 in Springfield, Ill. to Jeffery Kuhn Barnstead and Shiloh Renee Sunley. He graduated from Buccard Welding School and was a pipefitter.

Kodi is survived by his parents; his wife, Shelby Renee (Pollard) Sunley; his children; Kamden Rowdy Sunley, Kaden Tuff Sunley, Wyliee Kay Sunley, and Eli Kuhn Sunley; his father’s fiancé, Tina; and his grandfather, Leonard “Butch” Sunley.

Winning well over 500+ races in his racing career and setting numerous track records, it is easy to say Kodi had talent that just came natural to him. Kodi’s love and devotion wasn’t just something that was encountered at the track. He was always eager to learn more to master whatever trade or skill he had newly adopted after finishing the last. He was also the most courteous and polite man, who would stop at nothing to help family, friends, and even strangers. Ten years of being the best father only further defined the man he was.

He loved and cared so much for all four of his kids, always the most fun “father hen”. Kodi was so full energy and was ready to do anything. Anytime anyone was with Kodi you knew you’d be going on an adventure and having a good day while with him. He could light up a room with his beaming brown eyes and soft smile. Full of jokes with the sweetest Illinois accent, Kodi Sunley was more than just another name, or another person. He was a son, father, husband & the best friend you had ever met.
