Alice Mae (Vaughan) Burrows, age 94, peacefully passed away May 30, 2024, leaving a legacy of kindness and grace. She was born on June 15, 1929, in the Middleton Community of Leon County, Texas, to Luther Thomas and Lorene (Faucett) Vaughan.

Throughout her life, Alice worked tirelessly as a secretary and pharmacy clerk, displaying dedication and warmth in all her endeavors. She was a devoted member of the First Methodist Church in Madisonville, Texas, and proudly served as the president of her Sunday School Class.

Alice’s generous spirit extended beyond the church walls to the Son-Shine Center in Madisonville, where she was the longest-standing volunteer, touching countless lives with her love and compassion. Her talents were boundless, from her skills in the kitchen to her knack for creating a warm and inviting home.

Despite her petite frame, Alice’s presence was larger than life, radiating with a fierce spirit and unwavering positivity. She and her late husband, Oran, settled in Centerville for retirement in 1986, marking a new chapter filled with love and contentment.

Alice was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Oran L. Burrows, Jr.; and sisters, Lois Vaughn, Evelyn Robeson and Josephine Wiley.

Surviving family includes daughter, Donna (Burrows) Bynum; grandchildren, Sherry Rightmeyer and Brandy (Bynum) Webb; great-grandchild, Mikayla Rightmeyer; sisters, Wanda Wilburn and Lela Gindratt and nieces and nephews, Jane Christian & husband, Bob, Bill Vaughn & wife, Kathy, Dale Robeson & wife, Brenda, Melinda Rowe & husband, Mike, Cassie Stephens & husband, Steve, Vanessa Wilburn & husband, Chris, Chris Gindratt, Mary McCoy & husband, David, Carrie Nelson and Betty (Wiley) Brock; as well as numerous great-nieces & great-nephews.

Alice’s remarkable life was celebrated in a funeral service that was held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas. She was laid to rest in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in the Ridge Community of Leon County, Texas.

Pallbearers were Bill Vaughn, Mike Rowe, Dale Robeson, Chris Davis, Jim Wesley Madole, Lawrence Johnson.

Honorary Pallbearers were Bob Christian & Men of the Upper Room Sunday School Class.

Final arrangements were entrusted to Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.
