1938 – 2025

Billy Morris Tinsley, 86 years, 10 months, and 2 days, of Madisonville, TX passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at his home. Billy’s life was celebrated at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2025, at The First Baptist Church in Madisonville, TX with Brad Brock and Matt Carey officiating. The visitation began at 1 p.m. prior to the service. The burial followed at Madisonville Cemetery.

Billy was born on July 18, 1938 in the Connor Community of Madison

County to Harry Lee

Tinsley and Anna Pauline (Carter) Tinsley. He graduated from Madisonville High School in 1956 and attended Allen Military Academy in Bryan on a football scholarship.

He began his working career starting with Texaco, owning his own Texaco station for several years. He was a member of the International Brangus Breeders Association, managed the Fly-N Brangus Ranch, and retired from Windy Hill Ranch. Billy enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up, working outside, watching sports, and was a faithful member of The First Baptist Church. His favorite vacation spot was Branson, Missouri, making many trips for over 40 years.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Joe Edward Tinsley, Sammie Gail Tinsley, Bobby Tinsley, Winston Tinsley, Imogene Tinsley Hall, Virginia Tinsley Taylor, and Kathleen Tinsley Powell.

Billy is survived by his wife of sixty years, Jean (Haston) Tinsley; his daughter, Stephanie Bailey and her husband, David; his grandchildren, Anna (Bailey) DeBorde and her husband, Jacob, and Aaron Bailey; and his great grandson, Augustus DeBorde.

Serving as pallbearers are Aaron Bailey, Jacob Deborde, Greg Haston, Chuck Heath, Colby Sheppard, and Steve Trichel.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Ernest Cannon, Bill Coleman, Sonny Reno, Bruce Thacker, Jim Tinsley, Joe Tinsley, Lamar Tinsley, Mark Tinsley, Russell Tinsley, Colvin Walker, Dave Ward, and Don Wiseman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Traditions Hospice (600 East Loop 304; Crockett, TX 75835) or First Baptist Church (300 South Elm; Madisonville, TX 77864).
