Cloyce Ronald Johnson, known to his family and friends as “Papaw,” entered the gates of Heaven he so often told others about on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 in Temple, TX. He was 84 years old. Cloyce’s life will be celebrated 12 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2025 at The Iola Worship Center in Iola, TX with Bro. Dale Evans officiating. The interment followed at Pankey Cemetery in Bedias, TX. The visitation is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. prior to the service.

Cloyce was born on October 29, 1940 in Temple, TX to John Alonzo Johnson and Lillie Bird (Pryor) Johnson. He attended school in Temple and had a career as a machinist and an engineer, but it was being a pastor for which he will be remembered. He enjoyed spending time with his family, wood working, a good game of forty-two, caring for his cattle and sharing the Lord’s love for others.

Cloyce was preceded in death by his wife of sixty- two years, Hazel Marie (Kilgore) Johnson; his parents; and his siblings, John Johnson, Cecil Johnson, Lucille Taylor, Willis Johnson, and Helen Pope.

Cloyce is survived by his children, Catherine “Cathy” Ann Thompson (Mark Thompson) and Cloyce Ronald “Ron” Johnson II (Karen Glass Johnson); his numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and one “on the way”; and many more family members and friends.

Serving as pallbearers were Cloyce Ronald “Ron” Johnson, II, Jacob Pimentel, Cloyce Ronald Johnson, III, Cloyce Ronald Johnson, IV, Mark Thompson, Dillion Johnson, Andrew Butts, and Blake Butts.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Charlie Johnson, Graham Pimentel, Calvin Johnson and Luther Butts.
