DANA GOREE
1950 – 2025
Dana Lynn Goree, born on February 15, 1950, passed away peacefully with her devoted brother, Frederick Dennis Goree and Charlene Goree, by her side. Her life, though marked by challenges, was a radiant testament to resilience, joy, and unconditional love.
Dana was born with cerebral palsy and never lived independently, but her spirit soared in ways that inspired everyone who knew her. She was, quite simply, a light in the lives of all she touched. Her joy was boundless, her laughter infectious, and her happiness unwavering. Dana taught us that life is not measured by what we can do alone, but by how deeply we can love and be loved in return.
Preceding her in death were her beloved parents, Frederick Hayes Goree and Evelyn Goree; and her cherished aunt and caregiver, Gracie, who cared for Dana with steadfast love and devotion until her death at the age of 91.
Dana is survived by her loving brother and sisterin- law, Frederick Dennis Goree & Charlene Goree; her nieces, Denise Ann Goree, Kimberly Anne Goree-Gardner, and Crystal Mikolajchak; her nephew, Chris Tucker; great-nieces and nephews; and one precious great-great-nephew. Each of them carries a piece of Dana’s light and laughter in their hearts.
Dana never let a birthday— or even an ordinary day—go by without singing “Happy Birthday” with joy. If it wasn’t your birthday, she’d sing it anyway, because any time with Dana was a celebration. She loved hearing about your day, especially if you told her about your teacher— she never failed to say, “Tell them hello!”
She found delight in the little things: good food, long bike rides, classic rock n’ roll, and the wholesome comfort of Leave It to Beaver. Dana was an avid fan of the Houston Astros and the Astrodome, always ready with a glove and ball for the game. Her watch was her prized possession, and she had a soft spot for the occasional remote-control dune buggy.
Despite the physical challenges she faced, Dana turned every lemon life handed her into sweet, sparkling lemonade. She loved fiercely, smiled constantly, and reminded us every day of the power of pure, unfiltered joy.
Dana’s legacy is one of grace, humor, and the deepest kind of love. She never met a stranger and never missed an opportunity to let you know you mattered. She made this world brighter simply by being in it.
She will be missed beyond measure and remembered always—with smiles, with song, and with hearts full of love.
Rest well, sweet Dana. You made us better.
