Funeral services for Evelyn Jeanelle Mathis took place 2 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Interment followed at Madisonville Cemetery. Joel Douget officiated the service.
Pallbearers: Clark Osborne, Jack Hunter, Norman Morris, Terry Mathis Will Mathis, Harold Gene Wells, Johnny Adams, Glenn Shine, Sonny Dean, James Mushinski Jeanelle (Harris) Mathis was born on June 25, 1935 to Bernice (Lindsey) and Alvin P. Harris in Madisonville.
She attended Madisonville High School, Cox Cosmetology School in Huntsville, and became a licensed Real Estate Agent. Jeanelle was an active member in the community, serving on various committees, as well as owning her own business.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, James Mathis; one sister, Hellon Harris Shine; three nephews, Jimmy Shine, Forrest Mathis and Bruce Mathis; and niece, Mary Sue Mathis Thorn.
She is survived by her two sons, James “Ricky” Mathis and wife, Betty and Randy Mathis and wife, Janie; five grandchildren, Christie Mathis Garner (Christian), Candy Mathis West (Mark), Brandi Mathis, Terry Mathis (Cydney) and Will Mathis (fiancé, Codi); six great-grandchildren, Mark, Rylee and Emilee West and Luke, Carter and Sadie Mathis; nephew, Glenn Shine; nieces, Glenda Shine, Barbara Mathis Corley and Katherine Mathis Gustavus (Cecil); along with numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Jeanelle loved people and loved to have a good time. She and James loved to travel and covered the North American Continent.
