1924 – 2024 Gerald Powell, 99 years of Austin, TX, passed away on February 18, 2024. Graveside services were scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2024, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery (known to many as the Bracewell Family Cemetery) in Bedias, TX.

Gerald was born on April 8, 1924 in White Rock, TX to Mary Ruth (Green) Powell and Lilburn Miller Powell. He proudly served his country as a medic during World War II serving with the 104th Infantry of The United States Army. Gerald attended The University of Texas and graduated with a BS degree in chemical engineering and then he began his career with Dow Chemical Company. He served faithfully as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Marble Falls TX; travelled extensively with his wife; enjoyed golfing; and was very active with the UT Alumni.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of seventy years, Mildred (Taylor) Powell. He is survived by his children, Deborah Sorrell (John), Julie Harris (Curt), and Scott Powell (Kathy); his 8 grandchildren; and his 15 great grandchildren.
