HAZEL MARIE (KILGORE) JOHNSON
1937-2024
Hazel Marie (Kilgore) Johnson took the hand of Jesus on the morning of Friday, October 18, 2024 at the age of 87 years old. Her loving family was by her side as her earthly walk ended and she was ushered into heaven’s gates. Her life will be celebrated with a visitation at Iola Worship Center from 12-2 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2024, followed by the service at 2 p.m. The graveside interment will be immediately after at Pankey Cemetery.
“Memaw”, as she was known to her family and friends, was born February 17, 1937 in Marlin, TX to Robert Kilgore and Leona (Nawarra) Kilgore. She graduated from Beaumont High School in 1955 in a class of approximately eight hundred students and she was in the distinguished top ten. She then received an advanced degree in bookkeeping. Hazel was a seamstress and a small business owner who enjoyed gardening, but it was her devotion to her family and church, and her excellent cooking, for which she will be remembered. She was a determined prayer warrior and actively shared the gospel and her love of the Lord.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Robert Kilgore, Billy Kilgore, Ronnie Kilgore, and Bobbie Herrington.
Hazel is survived by her loving and devoted husband of sixty-two years, Cloyce Ronald Johnson; her children and their spouses, Catherine “Cathy” Ann Thompson & Mark Thompson and Cloyce Ronald “Ron” Johnson II & Karen Johnson; her sister- in-law, Helen Louise Pope; her grandchildren, Ashlyn Pimentel (Jacob), Chloe Butts (Andrew), Caitlyn Johnson (Dillon), Cloyce Ronald “Trey” Johnson (Karolyn), eleven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a multitude of family members and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are Cloyce Ronald “Ron” Johnson, II, Jacob Pimentel, Cloyce Ronald Johnson, III, Cloyce Ronald Johnson, IV, Mark Thompson, Dillion Johnson, Andrew Butts, and Blake Butts.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Charlie Johnson, Graham Pimentel, and Calvin Johnson.
