JOHN LEWIS 'JOHNNY' ESKRIDGE JR.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Lewis 'Johnny' Eskridge Jr., who left this world on December 24, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on June 19, 1954, in Madisonville, Texas, Johnny was the beloved son of John Lewis, Sr., and Dorothy (Miller) Eskridge. He grew up in Madison County and spent the remainder of his life in Leon County, where he was a cherished member of the community.

Johnny was a hardworking man known for his dedication and expertise in both the heavy equipment and trucking industries, having owned and operated his own bulldozer company and Eskridge Trucking. His reputation in the oilfield industry was built upon years of commitment and exceptional work.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Johnny's true passion lay in his family. A devoted family man, he found immense joy in being present in his children's lives, attending his grandchildren's activities, and proudly celebrating the arrival of his newest great-grandchild.

His excitement for life was evident as he looked forward to welcoming his second great-grandchild.

In addition to his family and work, Johnny was an active member of the local Masonic Lodge, where he made lasting friendships and contributed to the community.

Johnny was preceded in death by both of his parents, John Sr. & Dorothy Eskridge; sisters, Joan Eskridge Lewis and Marie Eskridge and beloved son, John Carl 'Skip' Eskridge. He is survived by his daughters, Christina Harris and husband, Rodney of Normangee and Alissa Eskridge of Zavalla; former wife and mother of his children, Debra Eskridge of Normangee; sister, Elizabeth 'Betty' Eskridge Rushing of Eaton, Colorado; grandchildren, Brady Harris and wife, Allie, Ragan Harris, Cade Harris, Trey Weiler, Kenzie Weiler, and Braylee Weiler; great-grandson, Ridge Harris; and special cousin, Diane Schiffer and husband, Dennis, as well as numerous extended family and friends who will all forever hold dear the memories of Johnny's kindness, laughter, and unwavering support.

A funeral service honoring Johnny's life was held 12 noon, Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Bro. Lee Weiler, pastor of All Around Cowboy Church, Marquez, Texas, officiated the service.

Following the service, Johnny was laid to rest in Plainview Cemetery, providing family and friends with the opportunity to say their final goodbyes and celebrate a life welllived.

Pallbearers were Brady Harris, Cade Harris, Kody Harris, Larry Allen, James Carlisle, Steven Jones, Cody Stewart, Clint Stewart.

Honorary Pallbearers were Rodney Harris, Trey Weiler, Reggie Harris, Larry Grimes, John T. Dawkins, Drake Jones, Josh Pruet, Kurtis Johnson, Keith Johnson, Nathan Watson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Plainview Cemetery Association, 16236 FM 1452 West, Normangee, Texas 77871.

Final arrangements were entrusted to Walters Family Funeral Homes, Centerville, Madisonville, Buffalo.
