1961 – 2025

Joye Kathleen Chambers passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was 63 years old.

Joye was born on November 2, 1961, in Raleigh, North Carolina, to Ernest Leon Capps and Lela Bell McWhorter. She later moved to Texas, where she graduated with honors from North Zulch High School.

She married Tommy Chambers and was a devoted mother to her son, Michael Chambers. Her grandchildren, Tristan, Sam, and Lela, were the light of her life, and she spoke of them often with great love and pride.

Joye worked for many years at Brookshire Brothers in Madisonville, where her warm smile and sense of humor were remembered by coworkers and customers alike. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Madisonville and the Ladies’ Auxiliary of American Legion Post 84.

Joye spent many happy years in Centerville, Texas. She loved to go out at dusk, when it started to cool down, and hang out with her dearest friends as they shared stories and food. She didn’t have much, but she would share whatever she had.

Joye loved to laugh and had a sharp sense of humor. She loved Lifetime movies, songs about rain and movie nights at the Alamo Drafthouse.

Joye was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Lela, and her siblings Ernest Jr. and Jill. She is survived by her siblings Jan, David, and Terry; her son Michael; her beloved grandchildren Tristan, Sam, and Lela; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Joye’s final moments were spent surrounded by family as she passed from this world. Her life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and the simple joys of being with those she loved.

She will be missed beyond measure, but her love and laughter will echo in our hearts forever.

Services for Joye Chambers will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Chapel at Willowhole Cemetery, 12912 FM 1372, in North Zulch, TX 77872. The service will be at noon followed by a burial of her ashes at Willowhole Cemetery.
