1939-2024

Martha Jo Benson, age 84, born on Dec. 25, 1939, of Hattiesburg, MS (formerly Madisonville, TX) went to be with the Lord on Feb. 10, 2023.

Martha is survived by her son Jerry Lynn Butler (Deloris) of Hattiesburg, MS; daughter, Jill Moore of College Station, TX; daughter-in-law, Maricel Butler of Wylie, TX; granddaughters, Angelie (Kevin) of Fort Stewart, GA; Gabriela, Alexandra, and Bricia, all of Wylie, TX; grandson, Tyler Moore; great-children, Vinlie and Amarra; sisters, Mary Sue Presley of Pope, MS; and Betty June Moore of Memphis, TN; along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Benson; son, Jefferey Wayne Butler; parents, Robert and Edna Hope; siblings, Robert Eugene Hope, Barbara Joyce Ward, Ivy Ann Tharpe, and James Calvin Hope.

A loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend to many, Martha will be in our hearts forever and deeply missed by all who knew her. She was totally dedicated to her children, and her greatest pleasure in life was being a grandmother, forever a MiMi to her grandchildren, The family would like to thank the staff at Bedford Care Center of Hattiesburg, MS, and Forrest General Hospice for the loving care she received.

Services were led by Bro. Timothy Butler at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville, MS on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 11 a.m. with visitation at 10:00 a.m.
