This world was made a better place when Phil was born on January 9, 1960 in Huntsville, AL to Billy Gene and Marvaline (Hasting) Hudson. He moved to Texas when he was eight years old and lived most of his childhood in Spring, TX. Phil graduated from J.L. McCullough High School in 1979 and married his high school sweetheart, Tammy Rucker, on June 15, 1979. They lived their first fourteen years in Spring, TX and, afterward, moved to Willis, TX, where they reared three children; Jeremy, Cherish, and Tyler Hudson. Phil was a devoted father, a loyal husband, and a wonderful provider for his family. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, and traveling.

Phil was a CNC machinist by trade and worked at Hydril Technology Center for twenty-three years. At the time of his death, he was working at Texas Oil Tools, which is a division of National Oilwell Varco, where he had worked for the last twenty years.

Phil was a simple man, preferring not to be in the spotlight. He was passionate and a diligent defender of those things which he believed.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Willon Rucker. He is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Tammy; his three children; his siblings, Billy Wayne Hudson of Cullman, AL and Beverly Strait of Toney, AL; his cherished mother-in law, Martha Rucker of New Waverly, TX; his brothers-in-law, Don Rucker of Hackberry, LA, David Rucker of New Waverly, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
