Milton Earl Roberts, 90 years, 2 months and 14 days of Willis, TX, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025, in Conroe, TX. Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Taylor City Cemetery in Taylor, TX. On Saturday; January 10, 2026, there will be a time of celebration honoring both Earl and his wife of sixty-two years, Kay, at The Conroe Church of Christ in Conroe, TX.

Earl, as he was known to his family and friends, was born on September 29, 1935, in Berrien County, GA to Jesse Milton Roberts and Martha Laina (Bennett) Roberts. He attended Cook County High School and then enlisted with The United States Air Force where he proudly served his country during The Korean War. Earl graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Corrections. He dedicated many years of his professional life to public service; working for The Texas Department of Criminal Justice where he retired and then retiring from The Matagorda County Probation Department in Bay City, TX.

Earl had a deep love for bluegrass music; playing his guitar, fiddle, banjo and mandolin - filling rooms, bluegrass festivals, and other venue with sound and joy. He was also a member of the Church of Christ where he served faithfully as an elder in the North Zulch, TX Congregation and the Bay City Church of Christ.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Milton Robets and Martha Laina (Bennett) Roberts; his wife, Barbara Kay (Schiller) Roberts; and his sister, Winnie Melba (Roberts) Bennett.

Earl is survived by his daughters; Sandra “Sandy” Gay Phillips (David) and Martye Ellen Hill (S. Tripp); his grandchildren, Nicolas Darrell Phillips (Nichole), Benton Earl Phillips (Jami), Kaylin Marie Campbell, and KodieEllen Huston Campbell; his great grandchildren, Mason Darrell Phillips, Sadie Elizabeth Phillips, Ivy Sue Phillips, and Ellie Grace Phillips; his brother, WR Phillips (Wanda); his sister-in-law, Nickie Gay Christopher (Gary); and his many nephews, nieces, and cousins – especially in South Georgia where he loved to visit.

Serving as pallbearers are David Darrell Phillips, S. Tripp Hill, Nicolas Darrell Phillips, Benton Earl Phillips, Mason Darrell Phillips, and Darren Gayle Cosby. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Kristopher Dale Schiller, Keith Duane Schiller, and Shenandoah Lee Starling.
