MURRAY DALE CORCORRAN
Murray Dale Corcorran dedicated husband, father of eight, and friend of many passed away on October 9th, 2022, at the age of 91 in Midway, Texas.
Murray was born to Elbert and Anner Corcorran in Cordell, Oklahoma and settled in Texas at a young age. He graduated from Houston’s Jeff Davis High School in 1948.
He was employed as a carpenter in his father’s business before opening his own company, Universal Plastic Products (UPP), with his brother, Glenn. Murray spent many years building motorboats and sailboats. He and Glenn designed the Dolphin class sailboat, in production from 1964 to 1985. Shortly after high school, Murray met Jessie Louise Hallmark and they spent 20 years building a family together.
Married in 1950, Jessie and Murray welcomed eight children, five sons and three daughters - Delona, Bobby, Deborah, Craig, Darrell, Darwin, Lindley, and Suzanne.
Through the years, Murray enjoyed building sailboats with his brother and sons, traveling, creating art, and making friends wherever he went.
Murray was a stranger to no one and found great purpose sharing in the successes, joys, and challenges of those around him. Murray was authentically there for those in his life.
After retiring from UPP, Murray operated an antiques shop on the shore of Lake Murray in Irmo, South Carolina with his second wife, Virginia Hammack.
After moving back to Texas, they opened an antique store and boat repair shop in Kemah, where they were able to build unique bonds with loved ones, especially their grandson Christopher who lovingly called Murray “My Prin.”
Several years after Virginia’s death, Murray fully retired with Donna McBride in Winnie, TX.
He forged an enduring relationship with his stepson Trent McBride, maintained a neverending list of building projects, and diligently tended to his cats usually on the phone with a friend while doing so. Murray is preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Anner, Siblings- Glenn, and Donald, Former wives Jessie and Virginia, his sons Craig and Lindley, his stepdaughter Linda, and grandchild Christopher.
