Nathan Alvin “Duke” Geick, Jr.; of North Zulch, TX; passed away on Tuesday; November 9, 2021 in Houston, TX. A celebration of Nathan’s life was scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday; November 30, 2021 at The First United Methodist Church in Madisonville, TX. Rev. Jim Jackson will officiate.

Nathan was born in Bryan, TX on April 2, 1969 to Nathan Alvin Geick, Sr. and Loretta Rolfe Geick. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice Management from Sam Houston State University. He began his law enforcement career as a DARE officer with the Deer Park Police De partment. After leaving Deer Park, he served as the Chief of Police of the Madisonville Police Department. He retired from full time law enforcement in 1998 to take an executive position in the telecommunications industry. Duke continued to serve as a peace officer for 23 years as a reserve with the Athens Police Department.

Duke enjoyed spending time with friends and family at the lake on the boat. He loved to cook and carried on the family tradition of great BBQ and BBQ cook-offs. At their Standing Barr C Ranch in Madisonville, he and Rachel established a premier Longhorn herd for breeding and production.

Nathan was preceded in death by his father, Nathan Geick Sr.; his grandson, Xavier Donava; his grandmothers, Evelyn Rolfe and Evie Geick; and his uncle, Greg Rolfe.

Nathan is survived by his wife, Rachel Geick; his daughters, Nicole Geick and Madison Careta, his son-in-law Chris Careta; his mother, Loretta Geick; his sister, Elizabeth “Beth” Morris; his brother, John “Miki” Coffelt; his aunt, Monica Geick; his mother-in-law, Brenda Barr; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Vance and Karen Howard; his nieces, Kathryn Howard and Sarah Howard; his nephew, Jake Howard and his sister-in-law, LaDonna Kibler.
