Winnie Pauline Gilhaus was born December 25, 1929 in Madison County, Texas to William Paul McWhorter and Lillian Anna Peters. She died January 12, 2021 at age 91. She followed several of her sisters to Houston where she worked as a bookkeeper for Bland Willis Cadillac.

After meeting and marrying the love of her life, James B. Gilhaus, the two moved back to the country near friends and family. While in Huntsville, Texas, she worked with her sister, Lillian, at Moore Henry Motors. She and Jim moved to Amarillo where both retired from the Texas Department of Corrections before settling back in Huntsville.

Pauline loved baseball and family. She loved her Astros and could quote stats, line-ups and player information going back to their Colt 45 days.

Although she and Jim had no children of their own she was blessed with an adored step-daughter, Lydia Dawn Evans.

Pauline was preceded in death by her mother and father and siblings, William Monroe (Emma) Bullock, James Chester (Ruby) Bailey, Cecil Earl (Florence) Cheatam, Ruth Ella and her husband, Ruby Arzella (T.F. ) Molloy, Gladys Helen (Spain A.) Bailey and Hilma Lillian (Bennett Ray) McMurray.

She is survived by siste; Joyce Marie (Henry W.) Menefee; children, Dawn (David) Evans; grandchildren, Lanie (Ashly) Glass, Amanda (Jeremy) Zarhan; great-grandchildren, Michael & Elizabeth Snook, Dathan Whitker and Ty and Cash Zarhan, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services for Pauline will take place 2 P.M., Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Billy Dale Evans will officiate the service.
