The Madisonville women’s basketball team opened their season with a pair of victories over Snook Nov. 9 by a score of 48-13 and Livingston Friday by a score of 47-22. The men’s basketball team was scheduled to open their season Tuesday with a matchup in Hempstead while the Lady Mustangs were scheduled to travel to Caldwell.

Mustangs drop district finale in Jasper

The Madisonville football team dropped their final matchup of the district season Friday in Jasper by a score of 35-13 to finish in fourth place behind top-ranked Carthage, Jasper and Rusk. The Mustangs recovered a pair of fumbles early courtesy of Cameron Thrower and Conner Swonke on two of the first three Jasper offensive possessions.

Cap: North Zulch High School and Junior High students participated in a new tradition for the school under new head baseball coach Steve Villani: which consisted of players dressing up in their Halloween costumes and playing a game of baseball on the school’s field.
