Last Friday’s North Zulch baseball was in action against the Grapeland Sandies at home. The Bulldogs struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Grapeland, falling 11-0.

North Zulch managed just three hits in the game. Riley Mooney got on via an infield single to shortstop. Mooney would advance to second when Lane Van got on base on a single to the left side with two outs. Both would be stranded on base as the inning concluded with the Sandies up 2-0.

Dallas Drake reached base in the Bulldog second via walk to open the inning. Tripp Baker would move Drake to second when he also walked. The Bulldogs again left the runners on base. Heading into the third inning the Sandies led 3-0.

In the third inning the Bulldogs would load the bases, but again came up empty handed. Corbin May reached base after being hit by a pitch. Trainer Malinak was also hit putting two on for North Zulch.

Drake would walk for a second time putting a Bulldog runner on third for the first time in the game. The inning ended when Braxton Brockman struck out looking leaving the score 5-0 in favor of Grapeland.

The Sandies would go down one, two, three in the fourth inning as did the Bulldogs.

May got on base again in the bottom of the fifth singling to the left side but would advance no further.

In the sixth Grapeland extended their lead to 9-0. The Bulldogs offense fell silent in the sixth and seventh inning as the Sandies added two more runs to seal the game.

The Bulldogs were back in action on April 1 at Slocum.
