Wanda Collins flies a Boeing 777 across the world for United Airlines. When she is not in the cockpit, she runs a flight school at the edge of Madisonville.
Collins founded The Lazy 8 Flight School at Madisonville Municipal Airport, where students learn to fly in a place most pilots pass over. She is a United captain with five years left before retirement, an FAA designated pilot examiner and a former air show performer. She said she built the school on one idea, that flying changes people.
When Tammy Hoke began her banking career on West Main Street just off the square in January 1983, she never imagined she would spend more than four decades serving the same community from the same building. Today, forty-three years later, she serves as President of Prosperity Bank’s Madisonville Banking Center, a role that reflects a lifetime of dedication to both banking and community.
Emilio and Maria Luisa Estrada opened Los Ranchos in Madisonville in 2005, and 20 years later the Mexican restaurant is still a family business in every sense.
Emilio came to the United States from Mexico with the goal of running his own place. One of his first jobs was in the restaurant business, and he decided that was the life he wanted, according to son Efrain Estrada.
