LAEVELYN LORRAINE STATEN-BROWN

LaEvelyn Lorraine Staten-Brown was born on August 23, 1948 and went home to glory on August 6, 2021. She grew up going to Catholic schools throughout her young age and was a devoted Catholic all of her life. As an adult, she joined Sweet Zion Missionary Baptist along with her daughter due to her daughter being baptist, even though in her heart she always held her Catholic religion. Sometime during her teenage years her family moved to Bryan, Texas and she graduated from A.E. Kemp High, Class of 1966.

A funeral mass for Mr. Florentino Nava, 50, of Madisonville, Texas was held 10 a.m., Thursday, August 5, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Madisonville, Texas. Fr. Guillermo Gabriel-Maisonet officiated the service. Burial followed in Madisonville Cemetery.

Our dear, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend went to be with our Lord and Savior. Lula Mae McWhorter was born on September 4, 1928 and passed away on July 31, 2021 in her home with her loved ones.

Both the Madisonville and North Zulch volleyball teams took the court to begin their regular seasons Tuesday with the Lady Mustangs battling Snook on the road and the Lady Bulldogs hosting Franklin. Madisonville will compete in a tournament in Franklin Thursday and Saturday and travel to Bremond Friday for a 6:30 p.m. varsity start. The Madisonville Mustangs football team began official practice last week and will compete in a scrimmage in Palestine at 6:30 p.m. Friday (junior varsity and freshman scrimmages begin at 5 p.m.). The Mustangs will also travel to Cameron for a scrimmage Aug. 19 before hosting Diboll to open the regular season in Madisonville Aug. 27. ARPA provides funds for local cities

On March 11, President Biden signed the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA), into law. The $1.9 trillion package was intended to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, including the public health and economic impacts. ARPA included $402 billion in stimulus checks to every eligible American citizen, as well as funding for every state, county and local government.
