The Madisonville Youth Football League concluded their most successful overall season in recent memory Saturday with three of their teams competing in Super Bowls in Groesbeck and two walking away with rings. Everyone in the organization, however, from the cheerleaders to the players on all teams, will walk away with bountiful memories to cherish.

Two Madisonville Youth Football League squads took home championships in Groesbeck Saturday with victories in the Super Bowl. Madisonville’s Senior team won their Super Bowl over Franklin by a score of 20-0 Saturday to complete their undefeated season and the Flag team, also undefeated, won theirs 55-39 in their first year in existence. The Bantam team advanced to the Super Bowl but fell short in a 8-0 loss to Groesbeck while the Junior team fell in the second round of the playoffs Nov. 20.

The Annual Madison County Christmas parade, sponsored by the Madison County Chamber of Commerce, is set to kick off Saturday and will arrive in the Square around 6 p.m. This year’s theme is “A Salute to Our Heroes”.

It’s happening this Thursday evening! Mingle and Jingle, this year’s after hours Christmas Shopping theme, is this Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. It’d an evening of Holiday specials, Christmas music in the air and refreshments to keep you going.

Ann Jordy passed away at her home with her family by her side, now to be with Jesus in Heaven with a host of family and friends. Born 11/12/1928, Departed 11/29/2021 at 93 years of age.

Jim Wayne Walton, age 78, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021 at his home in Madisonville, Hollis community. Wayne was born in Houston on July 31, 1943, where the family had moved during WWII so his father became a welder leader in building ships during the war.
