COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M Forest Service awarded 81 recipients grants to conduct prescribed burns this year. For the 2022 fiscal year, the agency has approved $522,950 in grant funds to private landowners in Texas with a goal to treat 18,250 acres.

In the early morning hours of February 20, 2022, in Flynn, Texas, T.J. Donahoe and his fiancé, Haleigh Wiese, along with their three children, Joseph Tenzleigh and Jordan, were whisked away to heaven on the wings of angels to spend eternity with their Lord and Savior.

Funeral services for Tommy A. Parker, Sr., 85, of Anderson, Texas was held 2 p.m., Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Pastor John Sirman officiated the service, and interment followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Carlos, Texas.

The North Zulch men’s basketball team advanced to a Tuesday 1A Regional Quarterfinals matchup against Calvert after a pair of postseason victories over Nordheim in the Bi-District round by a score of 52-51 and San Isidro 56-47. The Madisonville baseball team was 4-0 entering Tuesday’s action with three victories at their annual Mustang Classic Tournament at MHS over the weekend as well as a convincing standalone win over Malakoff Feb. 22. The team’s tournament wins included Fairfield, Caldwell and LaGrange.
