Funeral services for Scott Wingate, age 51, of Anderson, Texas were held 11 A.M., Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Bro. Tim Owens, pastor of Iola Missionary Baptist Church, officiated the service. Interment followed in Concord Cemetery.

A report submitted to state leaders ahead of the 88th legislative session’s opening in January urges lawmakers to develop “an innovative new model” to fund community colleges. The Texas Commission on Community College Finance, established last year by the Legislature and consisting of 12 lawmakers, business leaders and community college leaders, offered three sets of recommendations for supporting the state’s strategic plan for higher education: • Reward community colleges for positive student outcomes • Increase affordability and financial aid • Increase capacity at colleges to meet changing workforce needs “We need a funding model for our 50 community college districts that is bold, strategic and fully aligned with our emerging workforce needs,” said Woody Hunt, a member of the commission and longtime business leader.

We were all together

It was a wonderful and a very special time because we had all our family together. We ate, wow what a meal, sat around and visited and visited some more. We reminisced about old times and laughed till we couldn’t. We did a lot of different things together like _______________________________________ around the house. Of course, there was the special treat of spending time with the grandkids and seeing how much they have grown and changed. Those few special days we had all our family together reminds me of something Christians have to look forward to in Heaven. There are a lot of false notions going around about Heaven and who is going to be there and what it is going to be like. First, everyone who has rejected Christ Jesus and the things of God will never be allowed into Heaven, (Romans 1:18-20, Revelation 20:13-15 & 21:8). There will be a large number of people from every tribe and country and race, (Matthew 24:31) if they have ever accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, (Hebrews 12:22-24). We will get new bodies and can enjoy the new heaven and earth, (Revelation 21:1). There will be a great banquet with lots of food and visiting, (Revelation 19:9). How we looked forward to our family being together Thanksgiving but that is nothing compared to what God has prepared for us in Heaven.

It is a good time to think about the things I am thankful for after serving for a couple of weeks as precinct one commissioner. I am grateful for the support during the election and the opportunity to serve. Since the election, I have hardly had time to take a break to show my gratitude for all those who have been eager to help set me up for success, including many county officials and specifically the other commissioners who have all voiced their support in helping me to serve you to the best of my ability.
