Webster’s Dictionary defines “mecca” as a place regarded as a center for a certain group, activity, or interest. Madison County’s Mecca community did not begin as such and isn’t that today, but it definitely was for part of our local history.

Gerald Thomas “Jerry” Culver passed away on July 28, 2023 at the age of eightynine at the home of his daughter & son-in-law, Kathy & Kendrick Wick, near Sealy, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-one years, Christene and brother, Robert. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy and son-in-law, Kendrick; his sister, Nancy Anton and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

A homegoing service for Ira Lee Mosley, age 85, of Bedias, Texas was held 11 A.M., Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Interment followed in Lone Star Cemetery, Bedias, Texas.

Martha “Diane” Mueller, age 79, of Madisonville, Texas passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones August 3, 2023. Diane was born March 29, 1944 in San Antonio, Texas to parents, Douglas Bailey & Helen (Kalil) Caldwell.
