On Wednesday, Nov. 29, the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR), a division within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), unveiled a groundbreaking partnership.

Sales tax is crucial in fueling the City of Madisonville’s financial engine, comprising 8.25% of receipts from local transactions. The tax is assessed by local businesses with the State of Texas handling collection, of the total sales tax collected, 2% is remitted to the City, accounted for in the general fund.

Deputy Gomez attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a silver Nissan for expired registration on State Highway 21 near Interstate 45 going south on Sunday, Dec. 3.

Participants in the Annual Christmas Parade hosted by the Madison County Chamber of Commerce, held on Saturday, Dec. 2, display their festive spirit. Normangee State Bank, Kelly Riders/Montgomery County Riders, and Daniel Neely Trucking Company earned the top three spots, while the Mighty Mustang Band, serving as the Grand Marshal, led the procession through Madison County.

Madisonville Girl Scout Troop no. 9504 collected cookies for local fire departments in November. The girls delivered cookies to North Zulch Fire Department, Madisonville Fire Department and Midway Fire Department.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, the demolition of the bridge on W. Trinity Steet near Standley Feed and Seed has been scheduled for Tuesday, Dec 12.
