Madisonville Christian Fellowship will hold a fundraising event Sunday, July 20, to support a mission trip to Guatemala scheduled for late October. The event starts at 10:45 a.m.

Riley Farris drew from personal tragedy to deliver a speech that helped elect her as the first Madisonville FFA member to serve as Texas state president. The Madisonville High School valedictorian, who graduated in May, will lead 187,000 FFA members across more than 1,100 chapters during the 2025-2026 school year after her July 4 election at the 97th Annual State FFA Convention in Fort Worth.

A man facing multiple charges including aggravated robbery was arrested on Thursday, July 10, after attempting to flee from officers on North Madison Street. Kendrick Alexander Kishun Davis, who had been wanted since July 5 for aggravated robbery with a handgun, was taken into custody in the 700 block of North Madison Street.

Six members of the North Zulch Volunteer Fire Department walked out of last Monday night’s business meeting after Fire Chief Tony Clay began the session with attempts to remove firefighter David Kaufhold from the department.

Madison County commissioners approved an agreement with Walker County to handle juvenile probation services for up to $45,000 per year during their July 8 meeting. The agreement comes after the county’s chief juvenile probation officer left for another position.
