City water rates could go up

The Madisonville City Council will consider raising water rates when they meet again in August following a work session discussion Monday night at City Hall. City Manager Fabrice Kabona proposed a 7.1% increase for residential customers living within city limits.

1932 – 2025 Lifelong resident of Madisonville, Cecil Ellis Parten, passed away after 92 years of blessed ser vice to his country, his community, his family and friends. Cecil was born at the family’s home in Madisonville on July 9, 1932, to proud parents Ellis and Sadie Parten and made his entrance into glory on July 8, 2025.

Local photographer to teach class

Madison County 4-H members in grades three through 12 will have the chance to learn photography skills from local photographer Jay Hardy during a free clinic Thursday, July 24. The two-hour clinic runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Three Madison County students will travel to Japan this summer as agricultural ambassadors for the state. Kanin Cleere, Jillian Hardy and Jackson Zanolini earned spots in the Texas 4-H Youth Livestock Ambassador Program.
