County officials this week waived penalties, interest and associated charges for a North Zulch property owner who said he didn't know he owed back taxes on a second mobile home. Hardy Nevill told commissioners March 24 he bought property on Lone Star Road several years ago that had two mobile homes on it.

HOUSTON — Federal prosecutors have charged 17 alleged members of the Homietos outlaw motorcycle gang with racketeering, murder and other violent crimes in a sweeping case tied to a 2022 Madisonville shooting. A superseding indictment unsealed March 18 alleges the group engaged in a series of violent retaliations after the April 2022 shooting at Zip’n Gas Station on East Main Street.

Blakley’s homer the lone bright spot as Madisonville falls to 10-10 The Madisonville High School Mustangs varsity baseball team lost both of its district games last week, falling to Hudson 7-2 on Tuesday, March 24 and to Bullard 3-0 on Friday, March 27 to drop to .500 on the season at 10-10. Hudson wasted no time.

Van put an end to the best Madisonville High School varsity boys soccer season in recent memory Monday, March 24, beating the Mustangs 5-1 in the area round at the Jacksonville Tomato Bowl. Madisonville finished 15-5-1 overall and 9-2-1 in University Interscholastic League 4A District 16, good for second place behind Palestine.

The Madisonville High School Lady Mustangs varsity softball team hit a wall in its first weeks of district play, losing five of six games between March 9 and March 27 to fall to 11-14 on the season. The lone bright spot came Tuesday, March 17 against Palestine at home.
