Mitigating hunger in Madison County

Body
No one has their finger on the pulse of hunger in Madison County better than Son-Shine Outreach Center Coordinator Lisa Wamsley. Thanks to gracious donors, the willing hands and servant’s heart of its 17 church partners, the Son-Shine Outreach Center operates a food pantry, resale shop and can provide emergency rental, utility and prescription drug assistance until the appropriate agencies can address the needs long-term. From its humble beginnings in a closet at Madisonville’s First United Methodist Church in 1987, it is now a faith-based, nonprofit occupying 20,000 square feet at 1680 Highway 75 North.
