A VA health care facility or other federal facility with the capability to provide the necessary emergency services must not be feasibly available* to provide the emergency treatment.

Food for thought. What if a disaster similar to the fires of Lahaina on the Hawaiian island of Maui happened right here? In Madisonville? What if the winds we are experiencing caught an unexpected ember, then pushed roaring flames through downtown, into neighborhoods where drought-ridden lawns fuel it to the pastures on the edge of town? That couldn’t happen, or could it? It’s a sobering thought since right now it would take such a small thing to ignite flames.

Cosino to head Brazos Valley publications

From the moment she graduated Navasota High School, Examiner publisher Ana Cosino’s career path went only one way – up. Cosino’s 14-years with Granite Media Partners (GMP) and unflagging work ethic took her from the receptionist who did the jobs “no one else wanted to do” to Granite’s Lead Sales Director. Recently, she was promoted to Brazos Valley Area Publisher and is adding the Madisonville Meteor to her newspaper “family.”

It’s official, Drought is here again!

Since we live in Texas we are always confronted with the possibility of a hot and dry summer. The rainfall we experienced during the winter and spring months was certainly a blessing. There are many things that we can do to lessen the impact of drought in our area. The most important thing we can all do is pray for rain. Until those prayers are answered, the best option we have is to practice conservation.

Dr. West prepares for first full year as superintendent

As Madisonville CISD gears up for another school year, a plethora of new faces can be found in notable administrative and staff roles. Dr. Keith West, who has served the district for 28 years, will resume his position as MCISD’s superintendent, which he officially assumed in March after Keith Smith’s retirement.

The program aimed to promote literacy and provide educational opportunities for local children during the summer months.
