Congratulations to our FFA teams, who did a heck of a job competing at the 2021 National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana! This was the 94th convention and, during the four-day competition last Wednesday through Saturday, the judges saw plenty of talented Madisonville students.

Madisonville FFA’s Senior Quiz Team took home a National Title at the 2021 National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis Wednesday through Saturday. Madisonville students Delaney Callaham and Logan Fraley tied for First Individual Quiz Champions for their efforts.

Trick-or-treating on the Square, sponsored by the Madison County Chamber of Commerce, returned to Madisonville this year after it was nixed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Madisonville football team concludes their district season Friday when they travel to Jasper for a 7:30 p.m. matchup with the Bulldogs. The Mustangs have already sealed their spot in the postseason, but could still finish anywhere from second to third place in the district. MATTHEW HOOKS

The Madisonville football team fell to 2-2 in district play with a loss to top-raked Carthage on Senior Night at MHS Friday but officially clinched a spot in the playoffs for the first time since 2017 due to a Center loss to Jasper.

William Todd Downie, one of the suspects of the Aug. 2 robbery of a 204 South May Street game room in Madisonville, was arrested Oct. 25 in Walker County, the Madisonville Police Department announced in a press release last week. His bond for the Aggravated Robbery was set at $75,000.
