Permanent heart implant successfully placed

Thomas Meade, MD, and Rodney Horton, MD Electrophysiologists at St. Joseph Health Regional Hospital in Bryan performed the hospital’s first implant of the next-generation WATCHMAN FLX™ Left Atrial Appendage Closure (LAAC) Device on a patient with atrial fibrillation (Afib) on Wednesday, July 14, 2021. St. Joseph Health is the only hospital in the Brazos Valley to offer the WATCHMAN FLX™ device, built upon the most studied and implanted LAAC device in the world, as an alternative to the lifelong use of blood thinners for people with Afib not caused by a heart valve problem (also known as nonvalvular Afib).

53 seasons, seven division titles, three conference titles and now the Phoenix Suns, the only team in their division not to be based in California, are halfway to their first NBA championship. The Suns were one of two franchises to join the NBA at the start of the 1968–69 season, alongside their 2020-21 Finals opponent the Milwaukee Bucks.
