Roy R. Reynolds, publisher of the Madisonville Meteor from March of 2019 through December, passed away at his Huntsville residence last week.

MCISD to offer summer lunches

Madisonville CISD is participating in the Seamless Summer Program, which offers children 18 years and younger the opportunity to eat a nutritious breakfast and lunch for free. The program began June 1 and will last through June 30.
Dr. Brooks receives Outstanding Educator Award

Madisonville Elementary Principal Dr. Rhodena Brooks received the Outstanding Educator Award from the Tourette Association’s Texas Chapter last month after she was nominated by MHS Senior, Stacy Fowler.
REBUILDING WARRIORS

Alexandra Prieto poses with her dog, Arasy, at Rebuilding Warriors’ BBQ fundraiser on Sunday, which was also the 77th anniversary of D-Day. The event was held at the organization’s Madisonville headquarters and home of CEO and founder Jeff Anderson on State Street and a number of donors, veterans and law enforcement officials were in attendance. The event included a silent auction as well as activities and delicious BBQ. Madisonville Little League held their closing ceremonies in the MHS auditorium May 26 and honored their players’ hard work for the spring season with trophies in the presence of friends and family. League President Heather Lowery also announced her intentions to step down from the position in a speech to the crowd. Lowery helped rejuvenate the organization during her time at the helm. ROPING FOR A CAUSE

Madisonville native and reigning Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) National Finals Rodeo (NFR) World Champion Roper Colby Lovell hosted the 1st Annual Cody NesSmith Memorial Team Roping at the Leon County Expo Center Saturday through Monday. Proceeds from the event helped launch the Cody NesSmith Foundation to help families whose children are battling cancer. Cody was an avid team roper and close friend of Lovell who was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer and lost his battle in July of last year. Based on his wishes, a foundation is being started in his memory to help others going through cancer treatment. The Foundation is chaired by Kay and Tony NesSmith. Little League holds closing ceremonies

The Madisonville Little League honored their players with a closing ceremony for their spring baseball season in the presence of friends and family members May 26 in the Madisonville High School Auditorium. The event was originally scheduled to take place at the Lake Madison Park fields but was moved due to expected inclement weather.
