Toni was an active member of the Madisonville Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Toni was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio Ortiz and Maria de los Angeles Moreno Ortiz and by her sisters, Maria Conception and Maria de los Angeles; by her husband, Arturo Hernandez Moreno; two daughters who died in infancy, Rosa Maria and Maria de los Angeles, and granddaughter, Bethany Lynnette Wieske Gonzales-Baker.

Toni is survived by eleven daughters: Rosemary Moreno Holt (Rosie) and husband Arthur, Jane Moreno Young (Jani) and husband Mark, Lupita Moreno Rivera (Lupe) and husband Luis, Antonieta Moreno Alanis (Toni), Christine Moreno Stevens (Chris), Juliet Moreno Cervantes (Julie), Beatrice Moreno Dryden (Bea) and husband Joseph, Ana Maria Moreno Neal (Annie) and husband Michael, Irene Moreno Diaz, Laura Moreno Thompson. and husband James (Laurie). and Lillian Moreno (Lilly).

And by one son: Arturo Antonio Moreno (Art) and wife, Mary Jane. And by twenty grandchildren and thirty-one great grandchildren.

Toni vvas born on October 4, 1927, in Dallas, Texas of an established photographer. She lived in Dallas, Texas until she was six (6) years old. At the age of six (6) her family moved to Monterey, Mexico where her father established, owned, and operated Estudio Ortiz. She attended an all-girls school, graduating at the age of eleven (11). At the age of eleven and a half (11-1/2), Toni began working with her father in his studio. She worked there until her marriage, December 10, 1945. to Arturo Hernandez Moreno, (Art.)

She and her new husband lived in Monterey, Mexico. In 1946 her six (6) month old daughter. her first child, died of an undefined illness. In 1947 her second child was killed, as an infant, in an explosion of their home. Toni was severely burned in that explosion, she carried scars from that accident throughout the rest of her life.

In 1949 the family moved to Texas where her husband worked as a dental technician. Her husband’s employment moved the family from Corpus Christi. Texas, to Harlingen. Texas, and finally to various homes in Houston. Texas. In March 1961, while living in Harlingen, she and her husband embraced and were baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Her husband Art died on January 13, 1995, in Houston, Texas. Toni moved to Madisonville, Texas in June of that year.

She served from September 2006 until 2013 as a patron in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Houston Temple.

She said about this experience. ·’I have been very happy to be able to serve in the temple, I give thanks to my Heavenly Father that he has allowed me to serve Him. I will thank, until I am called home, Heavenly Father daily for my long life and the many wonderful blessings that He has given me.”

She also volunteered to work in the gift shop of the Madisonville Hospital. She served there from September 1995 until the gift shop closed in late 2019. She traveled to various states visiting her children and grandchildren. Her family was her life.

In May 2021, Toni moved to Houston to live with her daughter Lillian. She died there on January 26. 2022.
