During last week’s homecoming festivities, some games occurred, including tennis, volleyball, and football. The tennis team from Madisonville High School traveled to China Spring, Texas, to play a match on Thursday, September 22, ending with a loss of 7-10 to China Spring’s team.

In an impressive showing, the Madisonville Mustangs (3-1) scored 63-8 in a victory over the Caldwell Hornets (0-4) on Friday, September 16, at Hornet Stadium. With only 36 plays under their belt, the Mustangs ranged 477 yards, while the Mustang’s defense kept the Hornets at bay with 157 yards on their 50 plays.

The game would have kept Madisonville undefeated, led the Navasota’s Rattlers to be 2-0, and leaving the mustangs with a 1-1 for the season.

Madisonville High School began its practice runs for Football, Volleyball, and Band on Monday, August 1. Starting a new sports season is enough to spark excitement in most towns, but the most important people during this time are the students and the coaches.

Several Madisonville baseball players were singled out for their selection to the 18-4A All-District squad as a result of their efforts during the 2022 season. “I believe that earning such achievements means that these student athletes have worked hard throughout the season, and I feel that it shows that our program is moving forward, and other teams understand that we are very competitive and getting better every year,” said Madisonville head coach Adam Borgfeld on the selections.
