Countless locals flocked to the Madison County Fairgrounds Saturday for the City of Madisonville’s First Annual Mudbugs & Music Festival. The event included vendors, live music, a crawfish eating contest and lawnmower races. Man convicted of 15-year-old Martin murder

45-year-old Hollis Willingham of Hearne was declared guilty last week for the 2007 murder and disappearance of Madison County man Jim Craig Martin, whose body was never found. “I am thankful that the Martin family finally gets some closure in this case,” said Madison County District Attorney Brian Risinger, who has worked this case along with a number of other entities over the years.

Have you seen the little ones play yet? The youngest group is quite entertaining while those who have played for several years are building a competitive edge that’s fun to watch. Since it seems like our entire town’s population is at Madison Park in the evenings, you’ve probably seen them! In a matter of a couple of weeks it will all be over.

This is a surprise Musings. It’s time, for one, but I had written something completely different. You’ll see that one in two weeks. After I finished, it didn’t seem timely, so I decided to focus on the season for now. I searched “spring” as a season in both volumes of local history and came up with the following.
