North Zulch FCCLA Leadership Conference

North Zulch Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Chapter has succeeded remarkably at the recently concluded FCCLA Region 4 Leadership Conference in Galveston, Texas. Out of the nine STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) events participated in by North Zulch FCCLA, eight events have advanced to the State Leadership Conference, which is scheduled to be held in Dallas from March 31st to April 2nd.

Retired Teachers visit Texas Capitol for Red Day Rally

On Wednesday, April 12, over 1,200 retired teachers from all across Texas gathered at the capitol in Austin for the annual Red Day Rally organized by the Texas Retired Teacher Association. The rally aimed to advocate for a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for retired teachers and to engage with their Senators and Representatives on this critical issue.

Unforgettable Neighbors, Part 2

Last week I wrote about some unforgettable neighbors from when I lived within Madisonville’s city limits, but todays are from the Laceola community, where I’ve lived the biggest part of my life.

Fred Arthur Henson, 72 years, of Madisonville; was called to his heavenly home on Monday, April 17, 2023, surrounded by his family. Fred’s life will be celebrated at 10AM on Monday; April 24, 2023, at The First Baptist Church in Madisonville, TX with Bro. Chris Kelso and Bro. Charles Higgs officiating. The burial will follow at Allphin Cemetery in Madison County, TX. The visitation is scheduled from 4-6PM on Sunday; April 23, 2023, at Fannin Oaks in Madisonville.
